Title: Clerk Analyst - Payroll (18-00259)
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay Rate: Open

Type of hire: Contract (Short-term; 2-4 months)
Shift: 1st Shift (7:30-4pm; Flexible start time with an 8 hour shift)
Managers Specifications:
  • Skilled in payroll (taxes, benefits, and ISP knowledge)
  • Aiding in timekeeping support for the beginning of the year
  • Daily timekeeping support for group leaders at the plant.
  • Managing a large volume of calls and emails.
  • Kronos timekeeping experience required.
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Perform business functions necessary for supporting a Shared Services Center – People Services environment and provides tier one assistance to managers, employees, Human Resources functional areas and vendors. Applicant should possess a high degree of payroll knowledge to deliver exceptional customer service while meeting customer expectations relative to problem solving day to day issues.
  • Work activities will also include, but are not limited to, processing paperwork in accordance with established procedures, collecting and validating document images required to process status changes, generating reports, participating in audits and providing telephone support. 
Position Responsibility:
  • Respond to employee inquiries either by phone or email
  • Quickly develop an understanding of the GM HR and payroll systems
  • Achieve understanding of various systems that feed HR and payroll and their impact on employees
  • Maintain a cohesive work relationship between multiple 3rd party vendors that support GM
  • Network and collaborate with colleagues, third parties, and other GM departments to achieve desired business results
  • Keep up-to-date with all communications that affect employees
  • Assist in the documentation of HR and payroll processes in the knowledge database warehouse
  • Recognize trends in employee inquiries that may identify potential system failures
  • Collaborate frequently with other Shared Service Call Center agents to ensure seamless overall service delivery
  • Administers human resource policies and procedures that cover multiple Human Resource functional areas.
  • Assists employees, managers and third party vendors with basic and moderately complex Employment, Benefits, Human Resource policy, Payroll, Talent Management, Labor Relations, Compensation, Time and Attendance, Disability and Leave Management issues. Provides prompt solutions, highly responsive and superior customer service to all inquiries by referencing corporate policies and procedures to ensure accuracy of response.
  • Assists managers and employees with web-site navigation and self-service utilization
  • Performs administrative activities, which includes completion and processing of Human Resource forms, preparing reports and conducting audits as required. Performs special projects and other related duties as required.
  • High level of Integrity and the ability to maintain extreme confidentiality.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager. 
Position Requirements:
  • Prior Payroll Experience - Preferred
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills - Required
  • General knowledge of human resources, benefits administration and payroll; talent acquisition/management, compensation, and leave administration - Preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance many assignments at one time
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
