We are seeking a Commodity Buyer to join the Filtration Business Unit in our clients R&D facility located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The ideal candidate would have a Tier 1 or Tier 2 experience, plastics injection molding and assembly background, preferably with Powertrain systems.

Job Description:
  • Understand commodity part manufacturing and component cost elements.
  • Lead the supplier selection process for specific commodities, sources and negotiates with potential suppliers, requests RFQ's, evaluates and analyzes results and provide sourcing documentation and recommendations to leadership in conformance with company standards.
  • Negotiate contractual terms regarding cost, delivery, quality, transportation, and other standard or special contract terms
  • Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance
  • Conduct supplier assessments for potential new suppliers
  • Ensure that Purchasing policies and procedures are followed both internally and externally.
  • Launch global cost optimization programs with focus on cost of goods approaches, quality and supply chain optimizations, reduce complexities, cost reductions, re-sourcing initiatives while utilizing global synergies by coordinating activities with the global purchasing team.
  • Work with Program Buyer to develop purchasing strategy for customer RFQs and new programs.
  • Lead monthly saving reporting and budget savings action plan for the region.
Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university; 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Negotiating skills are necessary to get best overall value
  • Should possess source selection capabilities
  • Should have knowledge of contractual language and contracts

If you are able to refer a person we do hire, we can offer up to $250 for contractors after they are on the job for 90 days and up to $500 for direct hires after they are on the job between 90 days to 180 days, depending on customer payment terms
