Title: Controls Engineer (18-00335)
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay Rate: $42-$52/hr.

Type of hire: Contract
Shift: 2nd and 3rd (2nd Shift: 2PM - 10:30PM; 3rd Shift: 10PM - 6:30AM)

Manager Specifications:
  • Support off-shift production in gear manufacturing and assembly.
  • 80% of the day will be on the manufacturing plant floor coordinating production
  • 20% of the day would be working on paperwork, studies, and attending meetings
Position Responsibilities:
  • Every machine has a certain type of controller, these engineers would be supporting the off shift production for machine tool equipment. Troubleshooting and collecting the production machine up time.
  • Fixing the machines that are down and getting them back up and running
  • Typically managing between 5-10 machining projects at once
  • Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems
  • Human factors consideration
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts
  • Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
  • Work may involve providing technical direction to and coordination of less experienced process/controls engineers
  • Manufacturing and assembly equipment controls, vision and robots
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in computer science or equivalent field of study
  • If candidate's do not have a Bachelor's degree they need to have 5 years of controls experience to be qualified for the role
  • If candidate's have a high school diploma they would need to have 10 years of experience in PLC programming to be qualified for the role
  • Experience with Rockwell and Siemens PLC programming methods.
  • Familiar with Fanuc robot programming methods (Preferred)
  • Candidates must be shift flexible as they are providing off-shift Production Support.
