This is a Direct/Permanent Position with a privately held global manufacturer in the Saline, MI area. 

This position requires up to 30% travel to customers, integrators, and suppliers (periodic international travel to Mexico, Canada, or Europe).

Responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing projects as assigned for controls (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic), and the functionality for the purposes of developing, estimating, quoting, purchasing components and packages for controls hardware, designing, implementing/integrating, debugging, installing, and complete documentation and training of automation systems to both the company and customers standards / mutually agreed on expectations.
  • Assist in technical/commercial proposal package development and quote reviews with Engineering Management and Project Managers with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness, innovation, and ease of ownership.  
  • Responsible for electrical/pneumatic/lubrication designs, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance documentation review and editing, and project implementation as-scheduled in coordination with Project Management, Sr. Program Manager Controls & Software, Engineering Management, and Manufacturing.
  • Develop and design project controls and material list to the company & end-customer standards and, when required, external supplier bid packages for quotations/estimates and low-risk, cost-effective outsourcing. Includes minimum content expectations for equipment operations.
  • Serve as a liaison for electrical and controls related project elements between Company's Project Manager and end-customer with third-party controls, integration, and installation suppliers, to optimize project communications.
  • In collaboration with the Sr System Controls Engineer, Sr. Program Manager Controls, & Software and Engineering Manager, coach and mentor current and new Company employees on Company's controls, software, and installation standards, and supplier partners relationship.
  • Provide electrical/pneumatic/lubrication engineering for projects as assigned, technical/commercial bid package development, quote review, project kick-off, outsourcing, supplier follow-up, and progress management to on-time, complete, and accuracy expectations, and implementation assistance
  • Assist in completion and/or installation support of projects implemented by other entities installed in North America.

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or Mechatronics, or equivalent military training, or equivalent industrial capital equipment experience, with 3-5 years of related controls engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Resources Planning systems (AXAPTA and/or SAP), PDM/PLM systems (EPLAN), CAD Systems (AutoCAD (Electrical) and SolidWorks), Customer Relationship Management database products (SalesForce)
  • Controls Platforms: Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, and Bosch Rexroth.
  • Controls Electrical/Pneumatic/Lubrication Drawings/Schematics (A good understanding of North American & European Standards)
  • Industrial automation electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and PLC/HMI panel designs
  • Controls, processes, and manufacturing methods for powertrain and/or press automation products
  • Industrial Safety experience, including OSHA/MIOSHA, UL/CSA/CE, RIA Robot Safety Standards

  • Preferred skills:
  • A strong relationship with key contacts for powertrain &/or sheet metal handling market-related suppliers: sales, applications engineering, project engineering.
  • CMSE - Certified Machinery Safety Expert 
  • Servo Soft Application Sizing Software
  • Experience with FANUC, KUKA, ABB, and Motoman/Yaskawa.
