Title:  Design Engineer   (18-00452)
Location: Saline, MI
Pay rate:  $50/hr - $60/hr

Type of hire: contract
Our client is seeking a Design Engineer who possesses at least 5 years of automotive interior design experience.
  •  Investigate and make countermeasures for current production field issues.
  • Engineer and design Trim Parts which include headliner, carpet, garnishes, door trim parts, and airbags.
  • Work closely with OEM's R&D team members to get direction from them on each issue that is identified and provide daily reports regarding progress.
  • Make and keep schedule, develop design changes and issue drawing and associated paperwork for engineering changes.
  • Manage Suppliers: plan and follow-up schedules (part evaluations, design study and design change implementation) and confirm their meeting of the OEM's performance requirements.
  • Attend production trials at manufacturing facilities. Identify issues. Find root cause and develop countermeasures.
  • Report status daily to leaders (verbal) and weekly to  management team (written) and support regular status report to project management.
  • Also, prepare and present monthly report of each project status .
  • Report all new issues in a timely fashion to management
  • Investigate cost and mass reduction ideas and implement engineering changes as directed by OEM's R&D team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Requirements & Qualifications
  • Understand application of standard engineering theory, principles and problem-solving techniques.
  • Provide evidence of analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide evidence of ability to effectively coordinate projects.
  • CATIA VS Capability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Suppliers, Design, and Management.
   Required Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Equivalent Experience
  • 5  years minimum Interior Design Experience.
  • Previous automotive experience preferred.
  • Previous work experience with Toyota highly preferred.
