Title: Hardware Test Engineer (18-00439)
Location: Novi, MI
Base Compensation: $32-$38/hr

Position Responsibilities:
  • Interface with the Program Management and Product Engineering groups to ensure that necessary qualification activities are included in the project plans and that all planned qualification activities occur, and report results.
  • Creates and maintains the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) for responsible products.
  • Interface with other organizations to ensure all qualification issues are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the development of environmental tests, plans, and analysis for electronic components to determine that devices under test are meeting required standards and specifications, while maintaining and updating reports, test plans, files, and test data as required.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Develops detailed product specific test plans in accordance with customer specifications and/or standards.
  • Determine requirements for new test equipment and/or redesign of existing test equipment.
  • Develops and prepares preliminary drawings or sketches showing proposed specifications, design characteristics, wiring diagrams, BOM (Bill of Material), etc. and also makes recommendations regarding these items for consideration and evaluation by Manager.
  • Schedule testing activities for an assigned project, e.g. estimate required hours and record actual vs. estimated, assist with and resolve scheduling problems for assigned project/job and determine feasibility.
  • Works from detailed drawings, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, as well as verbal and written instructions.
  • Use tools such as multi-meter, o-scope, analyzers, digital analysis tools, machine tools, soldering equipment and computers to design and document test setups.
  • Coordinates with external test laboratories for test outsourcing.
  • Responsible for training as required for specific test setups.
  • Review test setups to ensure correctness.
 
Position Requirements:
  • Demonstrated involvement in research, technology development, and cutting edge innovation all throughout the academic curriculum via TAs, RAs, and internships
  • Experience with non-traditional input and output technologies, such as speech, gesture, touch, haptics, etc.
  • Experience in design for mobile communication and mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, physical computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and augmented reality
  • Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business.
  • Green Belt/ Black Belt certification(s) a plus.
  • At least 2+ years experience in similar role
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Must have automotive validation experience
  • Previous experience with amplifiers
  • Experience with non-traditional input and output technologies, such as speech, gesture, touch, haptics, etc.
  • Experience in design for mobile communication and mobile computing, ubiquitous computing, physical computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and augmented reality
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience

REFERRAL BONUS PROGRAM:
If you are able to refer a person we do hire, we can offer up to $250 for contractors after they are on the job for 90 days and up to $500 for direct hires after they are on the job between 90 days to 180 days, depending on customer payment terms
