Lead Product Engineer - Filtration Systems
This is a Direct/Permanent Position with a privately held global tier 1 automotive supplier in the Auburn Hills, MI area.

The Lead Product Engineer uses the help and support of the experienced staff from the entire company network, including the technical specialists, but they are the technical leader responsible in their region for the defined product family. They train and supervise the Product Engineer assigned to the development program of their product family in their region. The Product Leaders of one family shares their experiences and develops the internal and external engineering network related to the products. As a group, the Engineering Product Leaders, develop and maintain the appropriate tools and design guides.

Positions Responsibilities:
  • Directly in charge of the product concept definition, the technical response to RFQ, and signs the feasibility.
  • Supports the development team during the entire R&D process and formally approves the design after the Design Validation phase and the Process Validation tests.
  • Lead the technical aspect of business development for their product family (Liquid Filtration – Lubricant Oil / Diesel / Fuel)
  • Internal and External Contacts: Customer- DRE and taking technical specialist/lead. Internal - Product Engineer, Validation Manager, Process and Industrialization leadership, other region's Engineering Product Leader or equivalent.

Position Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Bachelor's of Science with a minimum of 5 years of product development experience.
  • Should have a detailed understanding of Filtration products, product validation and release system, services, test techniques and product and system FMEA's or the ability to learn these processes.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles and problem-solving techniques, ability to design/analyze various kinds of components, and provide failure analysis, good interpersonal skills to communication with customers, suppliers, and peers, and ability of project management and decision making to accomplish jobs in an efficient manner.
  • Experience and ability on CAD system as Pro-E, CATIA and NX preferred
