Title: Mechanical Engineer (17-00303)
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Base Compensation: Open and based on experience
Type of hire: Direct Hire
Travel: 50% international and domestic travel required.

Summary:
The function of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide a technical support to the Commercial and Business Development teams, and to act as a frontline interface with customers to conduct feasibility studies of potential technologies to meet existing or emerging US specific requirements.

Responsibilities
• Capture, internally by the commercial department or on site with the customer, the requirements, the different constraints and basic data of the request.
• Perform analysis requirements and establish compliance matrixes, working closely with Electrical and/or Electronics Engineers, and referring to the Design Authority.
• Develop and validate with the hierarchy and the technical authority the broad lines of the solutions to be implemented to meet the requirements that will be used by the commercial department to make an offer for supplies and/or services.
• Organize, document and present technical design reviews related to the proposed solutions.
• Support the commercial department in their technical contacts and discussions with the customer.
• Communicate with the customer to ensure satisfaction.
• Provide high level technical support to customers at their location.
• Provide on-site training to the customers.
• In case of issue or request identified or reported by the customer, interface with cross functional work team such as customer support, product management, manufacturing, marketing & sales.
• When necessary perform hands-on on–site troubleshooting, service and repairs.
• Maintain service information in the company database.
• Professionally and timely handle calls and issues arising from the field service visits.
• Timely complete and submit required paperwork.
• Represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
• Work with all internal personnel and outside contacts to satisfy clients and achieve company goals.
• Identify areas of improvement, mainly in the areas of his work, and assist in creating and implementing solutions.
• Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure that Quality procedures are adhered to and appropriate quality records are maintained.
• Ensure that hazardous situations that may lead to a Health and Safety, Quality or Environmental loss are reported promptly and appropriately.

Position Requirements
• 5+ years of experience developing and designing industrial solutions, products and/or systems pertaining to Military Land Based Vehicles.
• Master degree in Electronic Engineering is preferred; Bachelor degree with demonstrated experience could be accepted.
• Strong knowledge and experience with engineering principles and procedures that apply to systems design; experience in medium and/or large caliber weapon systems is an asset.
• Familiarity with industry policies and procedures to ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance; familiarity with Defence Industry is an asset.
• Experience in service and maintenance of high-end industrial equipment is an asset.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Legally authorized to work in the USA and have the capability to get or possess a Secret Clearance from the US Dept. of Defense as a condition of employment.
