Position Responsibility:
  • Demonstrate experience in the design, analysis, manufacturing and assembly of complex mechanical systems which may include composite structures and weldments.
  • Performing job captain duties on small to large projects such as design, component specification, engineering calculations, hazard and failure mode effects analysis, FEA analysis, presenting design reviews, manufacturing support, installation, test and adjust, acceptance testing, and general project management.
  • Mentoring of associate level engineers and providing second set of eyes support to ensure compliance with the design work flow process, industry standards, and codes.
  • Lead the design and release of complete assemblies working within an integrated project team.
  • Lead and oversee structural, dynamic, and kinematic analysis, as appropriate, in support of project specific requirements.
  • Responsible for planning, estimating, scheduling, conducting the technical aspects of engineering projects.
  • Provide timely, clear, and concise communication to management, customers, partners, and team members about work status and impacts to project.
  • Provide engineering recommendations, with proposed actions and suggested priorities, for the resolution of operational and mechanical problems.
  • Prepare engineering test scopes, plans, and reports (e.g. Acceptance Testing and Performance Testing) as well as perform testing and writing of test reports.
  • Provide timely creation/review of engineering design, change, and release documents.
  • Accountable to maintain the technical aspects of engineering projects within allocated budget and schedule limits.
  • Additional responsibilities may include the peer review of work performed by others; mentoring less experienced engineers and designers; and developing and managing scopes, budgets and schedules for departmental and multi-discipline projects.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher engineering degree required. Master's degree preferred.
    • Licensed PE required.
  • Minimum 7 years proven experience in design of heavy mechanical equipment such as large conveyance systems, automotive, agricultural, or large robotic systems. (automation, material handling)
  • Able to communicate technical concepts in writing as well as through verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to audiences at executive, peer and supporting levels.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully completing multiple, concurrent, engineering tasks and projects.
  • Experience with static and dynamic analysis to optimize fabricated structures.
  • Knowledge of complex mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics and electric motors/actuators.
  • Knowledge of welded joints and associated residual stress, distortion and related metallurgical processes.
  • Knowledge of bolted joints and the associated threaded fasteners.
  • Knowledge and understanding of design for welding and composite structures.
  • Demonstrated, timely, field troubleshooting experience including solution development and implementation in the industrial controls, automation, automotive, mechanical systems or transportation industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical groups and multidiscipline teams.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering across multiple disciplines and organizations while managing expectations of diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven record of strong leadership and partnering skills with good coaching abilities.
  • Awareness of basic control systems to enable some understanding of the interface with the customer's ride control system.
  • Must be a self-starter, detailed oriented, and have the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Approximately 15% domestic and international travel to client sites will be required.
