Title: Prototype Engineer (18-00510)
Location: Saline, MI
Base Compensation: $35-41/hr
Type of hire: Contract

Position Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead prototype body and paint and assembly production using Toyota Production System.
  • Study new models and update prototype tooling to accommodate new structure.
  • Assure quality of prototype vehicle at each stage from stamping to final assembly.
  • Clarify and analyze the cause of prototype build problems.
  • Work directly with vehicle design and evaluation engineers to determine root cause and countermeasure.
  • Document, track and close all prototype build issues.
Position Requirements:
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  • Understanding of basic vehicle structure (body and assembly) and related manufacturing processes (stamping, welding, painting and assembly).
  • Knowledge of 3-D CAD systems and spatial geometry, CATIA preferred.
Required Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering discipline
  • 5 years' experience in engineering discipline
  • Will consider new hire with strong co-op/intern experience
